Mom’s Corned Beef & Cabbage with Dumplings

Boil a package of Corned Beef Brisket, cut in cubes. I drain the water once or twice because I don't like much salt.


When the meat looks at least halfway brown, add cut-up carrots and turnip. Boil 15 minutes.


Then add cut-up potatoes, and chopped cabbage.


Let boil on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.


Mom's Yummy Dumplings:


Mix:

1 1/2 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder pinch of salt

Cut in 3 Tbsp shortening with a pastry blender or two butter knives, till the mixture looks like meal.

Then stir in 3/4 cup milk.


Turn down heat to low- medium, or till pot comes to a slow boil. Spoon dumplings onto top of stew. Cook 10 minutes uncovered. Then cook 10 minutes covered.
